GuidElines for abstracts


Abstract and presentation should be in English.

The abstract should consist of:

  • a title of maximum 350 characters
  • author list
  • abstract text, maximum 2800 characters (~400 words)

    It is not possible to include tables or graphs/images in the abstract. 


Before you begin, please prepare the following information: 

  • Corresponding author/submitter details
    (First name, last name, affiliation, e-mail and, country)

The corresponding author will receive all correspondence concerning the abstract and is responsible for informing the other authors of the status of the abstract. 

It is also the corresponding author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract; any errors in spelling, grammar, or scientific facts will be published as typed by the author.

Further on in the "Add your abstract" you will register: 

  • the abstract title
  • one suitable technical area (see the list to the right >>)
  • 1-4 suitable topics (see the example to the right >>)
  • preferred presentation option - oral or poster
  • abstract text
  • authors and co-authors details - name, title, affiliation
  • the presenter author (mark)

Note 1: You may submit more than 1 abstract. However, presenters that are accepted for oral presentation will be permitted to give only 1 oral presentation per registration. 

Note 2: Accepted Abstracts and Proceedings for the FT 2019, will be published in the Swedish DiVA portal, which is a finding tool and an institutional repository for research publications and student theses. 


The technical areas below with examples of topics should be considered as guidelines only. 

Major cooperative projects 
Topics: Military aircraft, civil aircraft, unmanned aircraft/RPAS, missiles/weapons, satellites and their launchers, Clean Sky and SESAR projects.

Environmentally friendly technology
Topics: Noise, emissions, climate issues, new fuels, optimised flight planning/flight profiles, surveillance systems, new engines, laminar flow, electric aircraft and engines, environmental satellites.

Aircraft and spacecraft system analysis 
Topics: Conceptual design, system of systems, co-operating systems, pre-projects, customer and functional requirements, system safety, security solutions, concept development, modelling and simulation, air and space transportation systems, operational applications, ATM.

Topics: Propulsion systems, turbomachinery, lifing methods, value-driven development, metallic materials, composite materials, manufacturing systems & processes.

Structures, materials, and processes
Topics: Loads, stress analysis, fatigue and fracture, damage tolerance, durability, structural dynamics, vibration, flutter, friction welding, advanced casting, high-speed machining, new fastening and shaping technology, composites, hybrid materials, functional materials, MEMS, nanotechnology, condition-based maintenance, additive manufacturing.

Aircraft and spacecraft technology
Topics: Aerodynamics, guidance systems, signature analysis, signature reduction, flow control, propulsion systems (including integration), combustion technology, materials technology, design- and structural technology, flight mechanics/flight dynamics, aeroelasticity, acoustics.

Sub-system and system technology
Topics: Avionics, autonomy, information systems, HMI and decision support, sensors and management systems (including communication, navigation and air traffic management), integrated production development. 

Operational availability, maintenance and support
Topics: Life cycle assessment, operation and maintenance, operating support systems, customer adapted production support, decision support, integrated testing, automatic failure investigation, remote repair, logistics.

Important dates

Submission of abstracts is open from January until March 17, 2019.

Notification of abstract acceptance will be e-mailed to the corresponding author by the end of April 2019

Registration to the Congress opens in April 2019
Author's registration deadline - September 1, 2019

Remember: Only abstracts of authors who have paid their registration fee by September 1, will be scheduled for presentation in the final programme. 


Information to the presenter

Presentation time is 20 minutes plus 5 minutes allocated for questions and discussions. 
More information will be announced later. 

All abstracts accepted for presentation will be published on the Congress mobile web (App) prior to the Congress and on the FTF website when the Congress has closed.
